Professional Piece 1

Professional Piece 1

Being Yourself
Be the way that you want to be
Not the way that others have chose
Be not your Mother, nor your Father,
Because in your body their blood does flow.
Be what you want if you so desire
If that's what's in your soul
Bring forth a wish or make a dream
And never be stopped by “No”.
Laugh if you feel like laughing
Even though the world might frown
Laugh from your soul, even if there's woe
But laugh, because it is your sound.
Sing a song as loud as you need
Even though friends will turn their head
And do the things that you do seek
And never follow when you should of led.
Seek your pleasures before you seek others
Forget what other books have wrote
Worry for yourself, before anyone else
Then unto life you will proudly hold.

Randy L. McClave

Understanding how you want to portray yourself in the world I one of the biggest steps in being a good writer, I believe. Knowing who you are and what you want your readers to comprehend about you and what you stand for. It isn’t important what others think of you; as long as you are content with what you have to offer in your writing is by far more important. As I started this year, the thoughts of rejection came clearly in my mind. Coming into an honors class which I had never experienced before was a frightful thought. But when I understood that this writing for me and who I was. My voice and my ideas were what were concerned here, not what others thought. Although I struggled to define my personality and what type of writer I wanted to be, I finally was able to grow off of my mistakes made earlier. Now I know I am me and that’s what makes me a special writer (with small flaws here and there).
